The American Art Gallery located at 724 Central Avenue represents local, regional, national and International artists. The Gallery opened January 22, 1993, and is owned by Willie and Ann Gilbert.
More than 4,000 square feet make up two levels of art for your viewing pleasure. The upstairs space is a Thomas Kinkade Showcase Gallery. Other artist represented by the Gallery are: Redlin, Barnhouse, Bush, Hanks, Govinder, Peterson, G. Harvey, Dyke, duBoise, Challenger, Frace, Glazier, Wysocki, Meger, Kunstler, Strain, Troiani, and many more.
We like to include demonstrations by artists and schedule them to coincide with the Gallery Walks that take place on the first Friday of every month. Fine craft demonstrations of wood turned vessels are favorites, Virgil Barksdale comes in April and October to show new work and demonstrate this fine craft. Painters and sculptures also demonstrate during Gallery Walk. New art shows rotate through out the year with artists present to talk and demonstrate their fine art.
Willie and Ann are both active in the downtown community. Willie has served as president of the Gallery Guide Association since 1999. He also has been a member of the Arts Advisory Committee for five years. Willie and Ann are both members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Association.
